Grace Lutheran Church 1948 to TodayIn the sixteenth century, Martin Luther, a Catholic monk, struggled with the way of salvation. No amount of works seemed to make him feel he had done enough toward God. While
reading the scriptures, Luther discovered that salvation is by God’s grace through His Son,
Jesus Christ, and not by any good on our part. Martin stood firm on this doctrine and from that
arose the protestant Reformation. This doctrine is the primary teaching of the Lutheran Church
Missouri Synod of which the Grace congregation has been a member of since 1948.
We believe the Holy Bible to be the divinely inspired Word of God, without error, and the only source and norm of Christian Doctrine, with Jesus Christ at the center.
Grace Lutheran Church is a congregation of people with diverse back-grounds, who desire to
proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed to our geographic area and to the
world. All of Grace’s organizations uphold Christian outreach as their primary mission.
Grace is well known in Paris for its presentation of the “Living Nativity”—a live
performance of the Christmas story by members of the congregation, complete with settings, props,
and live animals--which Grace began presenting in 1956 and continues as a Christian witness
each year.
A church women’s organization meets monthly at the church--the Mary Martha Society, who serves the Lord through Bible Study, mission projects, supporting the Altar Guild, collecting Mites (monies) for Texas District mission projects, and helping local agencies with donations.
Grace is an active partner in supporting the Community
Outreach Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, Life Chain,
Christians in Action, and Agape House of Paris.
Divine Worship is each Sunday at 9:00AM followed by
Children’s Sunday school and Adult Bible Study at 10:30AM.
In addition to our regularly scheduled worship hour, each
Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30AM our divine worship service
is broadcast on 1490AM and 96.3FM.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sunday’s
of the month.
Interested in mining the truth of Holy Scripture, join
our historical study of the Reformation of the Church on
Wednesday at 7:00 PM. If you would like to learn more about
what we believe, teach, and confess, please contact Pastor
Byrd, at 903-784-3753. We invite you to worship with us, a
friendly congregation with a comfortable worship
atmosphere—a place one can call their spiritual home and be
assured of hearing the Word of God proclaimed in all its
truth and purity.
